Familia

Wow well this week was amazing; we found 10 new people/families, they are all so great. I will keep you updated on the ones that keep progressing well.  It is amazing to see how much the Lord blesses us when we just keep going with faith. I have learned so much about the importance of diligence and the amazing spirit that can come into our lives when we keep pressing forward with faith. If there is one thing for sure I have seen the importance to never, never lose your faith.  The times when we need the gospel and the spirit is in these times. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that we can receive the peace and direction that we need thanks to this book.

Well happy news is that M came to church yesterday..his dad didn´t come and we asked why and he said "he said he had to clean, basically excuses" ha-ha... M is super special, he has so many great questions, I think this is one sign of someone who is truly searching when they have questions. Yesterday we had a class with him with Gospel Principles because there are little youth...aka none or at least yesterday so we had a class with him..the first lesson on our Heavenly Father and he did so well and we reviewed the things he can teach his dad as well.

Miracles - we had a lesson with a family where the dad, his parents and siblings are members. The daughter of his wife now is 8 years old and we asked them what the expected of our lessons or what they thought and she said I am liking this religion I want to know more...ahhh she is cute. They are super great family and super open to listening to the gospel, I hope we can help them live it.

This week we visited a less active, well we always visit less actives, but anyway...we shared 3 Nephi 11 the first part to express the importance to attend the church because it prepares us for when Christ comes.  So she came to church but it was hilarious because she walked in late while an hermano was bearing his testimony and she said buenas dias and was waving to the congregation...ha-ha ah it was funny. She also wanted to give the prayer at the end of RS, after we had already had one and so they let her. She gave thanks that missionaries from the United States found her to invite her to the church...it was cute..although my comp is not from the US, she is from Mexico ha-ha.

We also helped a drunk man to his house this week. It´s amazing how small acts of service such as this bring joy because you see how grateful the family is to receive them and that they are safe.

Oh and in one of our lessons this week the dad an older man like 70 was explaining to us what he felt and he was like it´s like the song...and yep he started singing to us...ha-ha the mission is just great.

I love the story of the baptism - so special, it is so amazing at how the spirit works and yes mom baptisms are amazing, I probably cry in every one that I have attended in the mission, and yes the love and acceptance from the members is key!

Halloween, there were some that went trick or treating here and dressed up it was kind of fun to see them..but it´s weird that we are going into different seasons, here is it is hot, well the last 2 days the sun has been super strong and hot...but today there is more fresh air and wind...spring like weather...and that´s super sad that you are coming into December weather now...gross - enjoy the snow....ha-ha

When you describe Emma she sounds so big...wow time flies by I can´t believe she is already 1. Also I love the examples of the my family who attend the temple. I miss the temple, sometimes during personal study I just want to go to the temple. So mom I am glad you got to go with and feel the spirit and receive answers to things you needed.

Love is so important. People always need to know they are loved and just keep inviting..never give up. I love you!

Oh Katelyn of course she watched a scary movie and can´t sleep alone. She could never sleep alone anyway ha-ha.

We have changes this week. I cannot believe at how fast this change has gone by!!!! We are hoping nothing changes/I feel like nothing is going to change..I love Hermana Rodriguez she is so so great, and today is her birthday. I have learned so much from her, her patience and love for all and the way she teaches with calmness. Teaching has never been my strong suit..but like I learned in Alma 56 this morning the stripling warriors had so much faith to battle that none of them fail. We just have to have the faith in the power of God and we will "win"

Christmas ideas, you can send me surprises and gifts of love you desire to send me :)...pretty much as a missionary I am good with what I have..or a new wardrobe..ha-ha no I am kidding, a little bit kidding.

Family I love you all so much!!!! Don´t ever forget we have a Father in Heaven who loves us who has given us so many blessing and a way to be happy. This way is the gospel of Jesus Christ!  I love this Gospel and I know it has been restored in our days. Love you so much thank you for your great examples of faith and diligence. D&C27:18...the Savior is going to come again we need to stay faithful!

I just gave my  comp a used tissue...well because she always cries when she receives emails from her family and it is her birthday, but I felt bad I didn´t have any clean ones...so that´s another thing I could use for Christmas - tissues, the travel kind.

te amo mucho!!!!

Hermana Morgan Anderson
 Buenas Dias,

Well today we received a call from the zone leaders telling us they had good and bad news. He said the good news is that you don´t have to study this morning and the bad news is that you have to go take care of the carnet for Hermana Rodriguez....I wondered to myself which of these two things was the good news ha-ha I LOVE studies...but thankfully we have time after this to go back to the pension and rest and study.

Sounds like it was a good week back home and you are getting ready for Halloween...and yes they celebrate here...so happy Halloween, we are planning to have an activity Friday night...supposedly they celebrate more than one night here I guess we kind of do things all month long but I was like more than one day WHAT..but yea.

So first of all R was not baptized. He was telling us he had things he wanted to figure out before...so the whole lesson we were reading scriptures about the preparation and if he really was telling the truth that he felt it was true he was ready...but he said no and neither accepted another baptism date. As we were walking home (may I mention I had a super super migraine that night) we were talking about the lesson and felt we had to return. He and his girlfriend had left and were in the front of her house...so we went over and he came walking out and said he felt like he had to leave...aka he hadn´t seen us just felt he should leave.  We talked and told him we felt he was ready, long story short we found out he still has hurt feelings about the death of his father in September, so we hope to keep working with him...but wow being a missionary you sure see the little things the adversary does to keep us from progressing.

So I mentioned I had a migraine Friday night so we returned to the house and Hermana Rodriguez told me to rest and she would plan alone. Of course I felt bad for that but I am glad she did because I ended up throwing up 2 times during this time...but don't worry all is well, but it was a rough night with a heart breaking lesson and a migraine.

This week we cleaned a house for an older lady in the ward who hasn´t attended in some time, but she lives solo and never married nor gets a long much with her family so she kind of has a sad life.  She makes Hermana Rodriguez and I laugh because she super special she likes to have things just perfect, but she herself cannot do it but she tries, anyway we cleaned her curtains and the spider webs and what not from her house and the windows.

Saturday we had lunch in it´s like the mountain here in farm land.it was super peaceful and fun with a recent convert.  Her husband is less active (for now). We need to help them so they can enter the temple!  but it´s hard to get out to that part of town sometimes.

Also we found a family (mom, dad, son, and baby of 5 months, which I don´t know if I told you but that was our goal this transfer to find a family with at least one kid that was above the age of 8 that recently had a newborn) on Friday and invited them to the activity on Saturday and they showed up! The son who has 13 years is super amazing! He was so excited to read the Book up Mormon...sadly they didn´t show up to church. We still aren´t sure what happened.  Oh and  the woman was not the mom, although they had said yes when we asked if they were family. That´s okay because the dad and son are super special.

Sunday was conference for the ward. It was super super amazing! I loved the talks from the two counselors of the stake presidency.  They called this presidency like 2 weeks ago and one of the counselors was a counselor before as well and he said when he received the call that he was going to be released he said he thought, "I can rest and have more time now", only to find out that was to be called as a counselor again.

The talks were based on D&C 58 doing good for our own free will, and that we should always be searching to learn and they had us think what things motivate us to be different and that to be true disciples we need to put aside the things of the world. I was uplifted and reminded the importance of learning and setting goals. I have been a little bit lazy on my personal goals lately like Spanish and so forth.

Last night we passed by for a contact we had done in the street earlier in the week. First off they live in apartments where you have to have a key to enter and there is no door bell type thing and we didn´t have his number either so we were searching for a way to enter and we decided knock the windows from the back side (because he lives on the first floor) thankfully we knocked on a window of a nice woman who let us in. So we knock on his door and he welcomes us in with a super big smile...ah it´s like Christmas when this happens. We had a great lesson on the restoration and that we are children of our Heavenly Father. His wife is sick and was in the other room and couldn´t join us. but we had a great lesson with him and his son Jonathan of 21 years. They are super great and receptive.

We couldn´t find M this week until yesterday, she is having a hard time receiving permission to attend on Sundays, so we still have some work there..But she is super great and is reading the material we give her. It´s just hard because her dad who is member at first told us he wanted to return but he is being lazy now and not wanting to talk to us and was drinking yesterday when we were trying to talk to him.

Today after we did our shopping we were walking back to the apartment and had decided if we saw a place to eat we would stop. We saw a place that sold pollo and papa fritas or chicken and fries for those of you who need a translation.  So of course PERFECT. We enter and start talking to them.  Then one guy says so you are Mormons we say yes. He tells us he was baptized at age 9 but is not active right now and he had moved a lot so he kind of lost contact or got lazy. We asked him where he lived and he said la Corvi.  ahhhh what, yea when were paying he said come visit me. I love moments like this; he lives with his mom and nephew...family incompleta! He is super humble.

Well that's about all that has happened this week here in the Corvi.  A came to the family home evening, but she wasn´t able to come to church.  Did I tell you that we had a lesson where she made her own goals? We had made a paper that said my goals and she had to write 4 things she could do this week to reach her goal to be baptized. Also when we were giving the BOM to M and his dad she was standing by us giving testimony of the Book of Mormon. I know she will be baptized one day; she just has some things holding her back.

Well there are so many other great stories from the week I could tell you, but there just isn´t enough time.I should write more in my journal. Well mom like you I love the simple truths of the Gospel, this week I studied the first chapter of gospel principles.  It´s about the nature of God. I know Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live! We have a loving Heavenly Father who has given us this time and many opportunities here on earth. We have so much to be thankful for. I know we are children of a loving Heavenly Father.  Go out and share the love Heavenly Father has for his children!

I want to thank all of you (family and friends) for all your amazing examples, prayers and support I probably wouldn´t be where I am without your examples of faith in our Heavenly Father. I love you all so much!  Have a great week and be safe for the Halloween!

les amo siempre

October 21, 2013

Hola Familia

Bueno, well first I guess I should tell Sean happy birthday. Sounds like the trip to St. George went well.

Oh and I loved the picture of mom and dad, precious! Also Hermana Hermansen said she really appreciated Dad coming to her homecoming and that Dad is sooo nice...so she thanks you for going dad :).

Well this week was a slow start put we kept pushing forward and yesterday we put 2 fechas one with a daughter of a less active who says he wants to return to the church...M is 14 years and plays soccer and practices on Sundays so we talked to her a bit about dia de reposo and she said she would talk to her coach...she is super great and told us she wants to feel closer to God... she is like soccer Barbie and after she is baptized she will have everything :).

But the best news is that R is going to be baptized this Sunday!!!!!!...we taught them the law of chastity Friday and he was super nervous about everything and said he wanted to talk to J that night. So we waited until Sunday when we asked about his decision to be baptized he said he still wanted to be baptized so we asked them their plans to live the law and they are going to live apart.  WOW I was so amazed at their willingness to live the law of chastity in a world like today. J asked how long they would have to wait to enter the temple if he is baptized in October and we said 1 yr...I am so impressed by their faith...Sometimes I let the thoughts of the world take over my mind thinking ah they aren´t going to accept this because its going to be hard for them, but they have so much faith and I know that with the power of God anything is possible!

Oh the other day we had planned a noche de hogar with the ward but it was us and a convert of 9 years...ha-ha so we watched el camino a casa...she was a bit bored but I enjoyed it.

Yesterday in a lesson we were teaching  an older lady how to pray and asked her to offer the closing prayer...it was really funny because she was like mumbling under her breath and we sat there for like 5 min ahhh what do we were like okay ready Hermana...she was like yea.  Uh moments in the mission are so great. This week we met a young man named J who is 15 and has some sort of disability but his kindness and innocence helped me think about how we should all be like that with everyone no matter what happens.

Sadly A didn´t come to church, she had to help her husband make bread in the morning...we talked to her about what she could do to come to church and she said start the bread earlier...it´s so sad because every time we have lessons she has so much desire to go but the acting part is hard for her.

Mom I hope your root canal went well...gotta hate those things. Also I am glad mom watched a movie of 2 missionaries being kidnapped while I am here in Chile, but don´t you worry I am safe. Dad I love the story of the homeless man, I love the feeling of helping people. Oh and mom we used garden scissors thingy from a member but mostly we just pulled the weeds out.

Oh and keep me updated on information of the branch in Limari there was a young man who decided to serve a mission the week I arrived and was waiting for his call the transfer I left.

Well that´s about all I have time for, for now. I love all so very much. I know we have a loving Father in Heaven who with his Son Jesus Christ Created this World for US...this world that we live in is for us and we have so many opportunities to learn and grow. I love learning everyday and hope I can be a help to others!

Les quiero!

Oh I forgot to tell you a great thing I found microwave popcorn in Lider the other day, so yes of course I bought some it was great!

Semena de mucho poder

Familia

Well first I am super surprised/happy that dad got to go hear Hermana Hermansen speak, sounds like she did great she was a great example of serving others and forgetting herself. Also I am sorry for the loss of Kate's grandma, hopefully her travels went safely

The Cause for Hope sounds awesome, probably just because it has to do with Central and South America :).

We had interchanges this weekend, I was with Hermana Smith from Alpine, Utah, same stake as Hermana Stott. I was with her in her area, which is like a small folk farm town. It was fun. Also I rode a bike for the first time in the mission.   The brakes aren´t that great and they are pretty old, but it was fun. I don´t think I have told you but lots of people here in this area ride their bikes and sometimes I think about my bike at home, but not a lot. I just think about how much fun they are having and that the gospel could make them happier. So with interchanges I learned more the importance to talk to all. The days really are better when we just talk to everyone and enjoy all the great small miracles that happen daily

This week we had stake conference and the missionaries were invited to the adult session because we talked about missionary work and how the members and us have to work together. Elder Sabaios from the 70 came and spoke, and Hermana Kahnlein and Pres Kahnlein gave talks, which I loved of course. The rest of the time was the old stake pres and new stake presidency bearing their testimonies.

I really should start making lists of great things that happen but yesterday we were contacting and this  14 yr old girl came up to us panicked asking if we could have a prayer. We asked her what happened and introduced ourselves and went to a park sat down and she continued to tell us that the dad (her sister's husband or boyfriend no sure which) of the baby (24 yrs and the baby 5 months old ) had just died in an accident that day and the baby was crying and wouldn´t stop and wouldn´t eat and she was alone so we taught her about prayer and a little of the plan of salvation and asked if we could pass by to give this message of peace to her family in need of this. She said yes and her faith was so amazing because she was like when can you come by. So we gave her our number and we have hers and I hope we can contact her sister this week because this Gospel and message is something that can truly bring peace into their lives. I love how the Lord works in such simple ways. Truly sometimes we search for great grand things to happen, but I know that it is through great and small things that great things happen...even prayer so never stop saying your prayers.

Investigators we are working with:

R -  we found out that his less active girl friend moved in with him this week and he wasn´t able to come to Stake Conference...so we have to teach the law of chastity. Hermana Rodriguez had a lesson with him the night was I was gone

A -is great and has felt the spirit I know we just need to help her act and attend church.

O -Hermana Rodriguez saw him Friday when I wasn't here...he too wasn't able to make it to the conference

We have a husband of a member who was able to come to stake conference he has a Book of Mormon and we are helping him in his search, he says he is waiting to feel something to be baptized, so we are going to talk about revelation and the importance to act in our family night with the family tonight.

We washed the dishes of a member this week after lunch and now they also ask if we need something or super willing to give us lunch and we asked for references yesterday and they gave us their neighbor's one who is a less active and lives with his family......AH this work is amazing. Oh and at lunch when we did the paper it's called my salvation where the members put their friends, family, neighbors, and others even if they don´t live in this area to start praying for them...she put like a million names, after Hermana Rodriguez and I started to cry...ha-ha I know it may sound silly but her example of faith and humility was such a great testimony to me. Oh not to mention she fed us tacos because my comp is from Mexico and next time she said we are going to eat hamburgers with fries...YES

Today we are going to cut the grass in front of our house because it´s super long and looks like someone abandoned it. So that's our fun for p-day and we are going to eat ice cream in Lider.

I know this is the Lords work and that we can truly be so happy when we follow the counsel of the prophets. Interviews went well President thanked me for my diligence and being willing/not complaining when I am transferred. In his prayer he prayed that I could gain more faith, hope and charity...so those are my goals for this transfer. Oh also the goal of this week is for Hermana Rodriguez and I to find a family. We want one with a new born baby or an 8 yr old and mom and dad...I know we can do it...it´s faith and hope!

I love you all so much. Also mom I love your emails too they make me laugh because well they just do because they are from you and I love how you write to me and they remind me of the amazing family and parents that I have. Love you all so much!!! Also help the missionaries :).

le amo mucho!

I 3> Conference

Oh my goodness, well I am grateful my family is safe after a wild weekend at the cabin, I of course LOVED conference and watched it in English with the other gringos...one Hermana, Hermana Thykson who was in my District in the MTC is in this zone with me so it was fun to see her and catch up and watch conference in English.

I hope that Limari is doing well and that they continue to grow. It was a good area that I grew to love.

Hermana Rodriguez...well is pretty much amazing, she is so kind, caring, humble, soft spoken, helps me with my Spanish, super great in lessons, loving, she has many many talents I am grateful to have her as a companion and learn from her. She has 5 months in the mission

Oh so today we had to go change my address for my ID card and I of course hate these things and was dreading it and also the zone leaders had told us that we could leave at 8 but of course the both of us are horrible at making such decisions as if we should leave at 8 or do studies but we decided to do studies because well after watching conference I couldn´t not do studies in the morning. And when we went to the place to change my address it was SUPER fast like 10 min, so we were def blessed.

Okay well I loved conference I can´t really begin to choose a favorite. I loved that Saturday the emphasis that we should all work together (members and full time missionaries.) oh and we watched the RS broadcast Saturday morning. I think the overall theme that I loved about Sunday was that we need to watch and be putting God as our priority and that his laws will always be the same. I loved Dallin H. Oaks and his talk. Also Ulisses Soares ( I take the liberty to titled the talks and I titled his - Live in the Spirit...so in order to live in the spirit we have to be meek and humble and we can overcome our weaknesses through Jesus Christ. I also loved the talk about how decisions shape destiny and that by one little decision not to go to sacrament meeting a whole generation was lost...this effected me a lot...as missionaries we have a lot of decisions to make and I want to do the best I can for these people and help them enjoy the gospel.

Ah of course I could go on forever about conference.but all I can say is I can´t wait to study the talks and to put these things into practice.that is one thing I love about conference is it shows us how we can LIVE the gospel better. Dad thanks for your comments I loved reading about your first conference. Sounds exciting. And yea I can´t believe this was my 2nd conference in the mission...time goes by SOOOO fast.

Oh I forgot if I told you last week but of the words of Hermana Kahnlein that I loved from transfers...she talked about how we are representing Christ as missionaries now and so we should pray every day do see how we can become more like Christ and for one year and a half we can put aside the things we liked.

Well mom to answer your questions, my apartment is like a town house and it is blue :). There are two bathrooms but only one works for the shower...oh we had some cold showers this week but that's nothing new on the mission.

And yes for the most part we walk everywhere, which I like. We have an investigator named A who came to the last session of conference he is a boy friend to a member and the hermanas had been teaching him...so we finally found him and he said he wants to be baptized.

I told you about O right? She is super humble and when we talked about the law of chastity she said it was like a dream....it is so true and the most amazing thing is that this is a dream we can have...we can have a happy marriage if we only follow this law.

R is good but wasn´t able to come to conference because he had to take care of his grandma in another city.

We are still trying to see what we can do to have more success with the ward, we hope to have an activity so that missionary work will be easy for them all they have to do is invite a friend...but we still have trouble coordinating with the bishop. The Relief Society Pres is amazing! She has so much excitement for the work and she hopes to serve a mission with her husband next year.

This week we set out to find a recent convert in the county...only after walking 2 hours we found a member who said it was on the complete other side, so we had to head back to where we live before it got dark...but it was super pretty and I love to walk in nature. We have so many great things in this world it's so sad of how many distractions we have...Thank goodness we have the Gospel and direction.

Well I hope you all enjoyed conference and am super grateful Jonathan, Maddy and Penny are all okay!!!  I love that we have this special opportunity to receive this direction and protection from the world today.I know I shouldn´t worry about this now but with the talks I was super scared to return to the world and have access to such things but I will just have to learn self control. I know that God's way is the safest and happiest way we can find. I know our Heavenly Father loves us and that Jesus is the Christ! I love teaching this Gospel to those to accept it and helping them feel of Christ love. I love you all so much, thank you for your examples and desires to follow our Heavenly Father. This Gospel is so real!

Oh we also got a new fridge this week. yay!

Sorry I can´t seem to get the computer to read my camera today. so no pictures but I love you all so very much!!!!!!

Love, Hermana Morgan Anderson

And remember: Do whatever possible to always live in the Spirit.

We have stake conference this week and I don´t remember who but someone from the 70 is coming...yay! We are encouraged to look our best and we have interviews with the president this week. k love you all I am really ending this email now ;)

Dios Haga Milagros

Familia!

So guess what my email is titled Dios Haga Milagros because we had so many miracles this week.  Well first off at church there were 120 people!!! The chapel was packed! I was so happy and family A came to church and we had had a lesson with them Saturday night where L explained that maybe she would share her testimony but both her and F shared their testimonies...it was so amazing! The work is really growing and we had so many less actives and K the woman with the 20 day old baby attended and stayed all 3 hours I was impressed! We hope to put a baptism date with her this week.

But the best news of the week is that the family that has been fellowshipping S.   The dad shared his testimony yesterday and explained that S told him one night that he wanted to be a member of the church and the dad said good you just have to talk to your mom and S said but he always was a little nervous to talk to his mom about it, but Hermano told him to share a scripture with her and after that she gave permission for him to be baptized.....YES so we are going to start the lessons this week and a baptism date! We stopped by the house of S yesterday and talked with his mom outside and she explained how he has changed and everything and how he asks to have a blessing before they eat and everything...The Lord really works miracles and as long as members, us as missionaries all work together we will have diligence and keep the commandments we will have success.

But yesterday was probably one of the biggest highlights of my mission, it was so amazing and great to be in a chapel chalk full of members and investigators. Oh also as of yesterday the branch has as goal to read the Book of Mormon in 6 months..So that will be good to have something to do with members and help them grow spiritually.

This week I studied the Plan of Salvation in depth and we really are so blessed to have a plan and direction for us. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and that we all have the opportunity to return to him. I love you all so much and I hope you all are doing well and continue to endure to the end.

So next week I am pretty sure it´s Monday we have conference so you probably won´t hear from me until Tuesday. I love you all very much thanks for your prayers and support! I know the Church is true and that our Heavenly Father has prepared a plan for us to follow and an example this example is Jesus Christ, remember to read your scriptures, ponder them and say your prayers oh and go to church these are the best ways we can receive the strength to accomplish all that we need. Family thanks for who you are and for our amazing examples!

hasta proximo semena!

Familia!

So I am sad that I have to be sending disappointing information but E is having some sort of family problems so he wasn't able to attend church this week and wasn't able to receive the lessons this week, of course we are super sad, but we know we can still pray and I know the Lord has things in his hands and all will work out for the better.

K has a lot of things we can help her with, she said she didn't{t feel ready for this...so we just expressed we are here to be her guides and it is all step by step so we hope we can help her continue progressing

So conference was yesterday and it was AMAZING!!! We talked about our theme as a mission to convert families and the importance to help people stay firm in the Gospel. It was so inspiring; the President talked about how our first question should be asking people is about their families. It really was so great because Life Eternal is true happiness and we can only receive life eternal with a family.

Also talked about working 50/50 with the leaders and families of the ward to find the families, missionary work is really is for everyone in the church. I read the talk from Pres Eyring from priesthood session titled we are one this morning..It is so amazing and just shows how much the lord works through members and missionaries and this is how the work of the Lord is done. I of course am learning this as a missionary as well in how to work with the leaders and motivate the members.

Secondly Hermana Kahnlein shared the story of the elephant who of course didn't have strength at the beginning of his training to do much and so as he grew he had the thought that he couldn't ever do things. She also talked about talents and how we all have a talents where we are a 5 and others that are like 3 but we can work on them and we do have the strength to do what we have been called to do. I don't know if that makes sense or not but it was great. I felt that I can work with the leaders and that I have the training to help them understand their roles and help the Church grow here in Limari

Lastly the assistants talked about how we should work with the image of a temple being built in our zones. I loved this image because as we all know I love temples and being on the mission makes me appreciate even more and I understand even more the covenants we make with our Heavenly Father when we enter the temple...I know that the north of Chile can have a temple. I may not be here to see it happen, but I know with our faith and hard work in converting families it will happen one day!!!

At the end of the conference we had the opportunity to do some tracting for an hour before our bus left for Ovalle, It was so beautiful because it was close to the ocean. We contacted a family that had the best view in the whole wide world and we talked about creations and how families can be together forever.  They were super great but didn't want to accept missionaries at this time.

Well that's my week for you. Oh one less active and her husband who are not members came to church on Sunday. I was so happy when she told us Saturday night that she would come so we passed by Sunday morning and she answered the door in her Sunday clothes and said her husband was going to take her.  We asked if he was going to sit with her and she said maybe...and so during sacrament when they both walked in I was so happy. I really hope we can start teaching him soon. He works a lot but I know she has a testimony that just needs some watering and we can baptize her family.

It is true once you get lost in the work, mission work is fun. There is always so much to do, sometimes the days go by so fast...ps the time changed here this week so we lost an hour of sleep...haha Hna. Gonzalez thinks it's the end of the world, but she will be fine.

And mom don't you worry about the cold it's nice and hot here now, it's cold one day and hot the next hot meaning at least like 90 and we aren't even in summer yet...good thing I probably won't be here in the summer.

I really send my love to everyone and the excitement to share your beliefs with everyone!!!! If not with words with your examples on fb and blogs. You know what the prophets say. Love you all so much!

The church is so true; I know families can be together forever. It is all thanks to the priesthood and the restoration of the gospel! I know the Lord blesses us when we obey his commandments and he always provides a way to accomplish them. Just think I am here in Chile after years of thinking of going on a mission and here I am. I know it's not a commandment for girls but it was a commandment for me. He provided the way and timing for me to be here in Chile and I know I am super blessed to be here and serving the Lord. Love you all!!

les quiero mucho!

Miracles

September 16, 2013

Buenos Dias,

Sounds like this week at home was a good one. The topics in church and the life of teenagers sound like an adventure.

So guess what?! We had a lesson with E yesterday and we started out by asking him to tell us his story of sharing a scripture with his mom and everything and he quoted DYC 85:10 to us before we even started teaching him....wow he is so prepared I just hope we can continue to have a good relationship with his mom and the family that is fellowshipping him is AMAZING...obviously because he had already read D&C so we talked about prophets and Joseph Smith yesterday and the guide they can be to us and taught the restoration. Anyway the point of this wonderful story and miracle is that we have a baptism date for the 28th of September!!! We marked the story of Nephi and the boat for him to read this week because he feels solo in this decision...well when he is with his family.

A less-active and her husband attended yesterday! Yay he says he likes it and his going to dance on the 20th because as you should now the 18th is day of independence in Chile...so yes the streets are covered with flags and everyone decorates their cars dancing music...it's quite the party...oh and food. So the branch is having an all day party on the 20th we as missionaries can visit for 2 hours. So we will see what it will bring. Anyway back to our investigator, we passed by their house yesterday and talked with him and invited him to be baptized and he said he didn't feel ready we expressed that we were there to be guides...but still he is hesitant...but the change from the first time we met him to now is AMAZING. I know the Lord  works miracles when all of us work together.

The other Hermanas found a less active that lives in our area now and has a 9 year son who she wants to be baptized.  We taught him on Thursday. He is timid, but hopefully he will warm up to us. It was sad because we were talking to the mom and she has been living with the dad of her son for 11 years but is scared of marriage because the marriage of her parents didn't work out Thankfully we had a member with us who's parents had divorced a year ago and was hard on her but she still has faith in eternal marriage we left  her with the family a proclamation to the world.  Mom I thought of you and wanted to know your thoughts of marriage or how the divorce of your parents shaped our ideas on marriage or how you learned to have faith in a successful marriage.  The more I read the proclamation I know that if we center our marriage and lives on Jesus Christ we will have success and we won't need to be sacred of the future.

We have another investigator named C she lives with her mom and dad and sister but basically lives solo because they are never there.  She was going to come to church yesterday. We don't know what happened but she didn't show up and her phone was off all day yesterday, so we are going to pass by today and see how she is.

Unfortunately we haven't been able to find K in her house this week, we will keep you updated on her.

I gave a talk in sacrament meeting yesterday based on the talk we are one by President Eyring...he gave a story of his time he served in New Mexico and was called to be a missionary for the district but didn't think he was going to be there long...but by a miracle he was called to stay there and with the help of members had lessons with families in the nights and weekends. He said that after 5 years of serving they were a stake and now there is a temple there. I related this to the branch we are in now and that we can grow because we all one in purpose (Moses 3:9)..And I also shared 1Nephi 3:7 because I know the Lord prepares a way and we are all just instruments in his hands and if we all do our part as members and missioners the work of the lord will progress. I know this is the Lord's work and we all have a work to do a marvelous work.

I have a lot I learned this week and in my studies today I read in 1 Nephi 13:37 I love it because if we all do our part in spreading the gospel or edifying Zion in our families, neighbors, wards whatever it be we will be blessed with the sprit to do the work and this is enduring to the end. Love you all!!!!!

Buenas Dias Familia

Well Family as you know this week was 18 de Septiembre in Chile which means that everyone was eating meat and more meat and lots of people were out of town.  So as far as contacting went it was a slow week, but we did have the most lessons with members we have ever had..so that was def a blessing. Hermana Gonzalez had too much meat on Thursday and so as we were laying in bed about an hour after we had turned out the lights she woke me up and said her stomach hurt and she had desires to throw up so I was like go to the bathroom so she went. I kept thinking that she would just throw up a little and be fine...but as I heard more and more I made the conclusion that I should probably get up and help her....she of course was fine after the throwing up..but yea it was a fun night...we concluded that it was because of all the meat.

We had the celebration of 18 with the branch on Friday, where we had lunch and watched some dancing.  One of our investigators was going to dance but that day his sister called him and they had a family get together so we missed that. But it was fun to spend some time with the branch. I made the no bake cookies the night before and took them to the party and they were a huge hit they always are everyone says I have to teach them how to make them.

E is doing great, I gave him one the CTR rings that mom sent me and some little post-its to mark his scriptures..he was super excited and loved the CTR or I should say HLJ ring. We are planning the baptism for Sunday, we are still working on the trust of his mom, and we have transfers this week..which we find out tomorrow...ah nervous! But yea whatever happens E is super prepared and even if he can´t be baptized this Sunday I know he has a testimony and will be able to be baptized some day!

We taught an investigator the importance of prayer and our relation with God and his wife who is less active helped him give the closing prayer...it was so great!

Oh so I forgot to tell you guys that like 3 weeks ago or so the water from the tap went bad and we couldn´t drink from it because it had crossed lines with the sewer water...tons of people were sick from the water..but it seems to be okay now but that was an exciting time.

Mom thanks for your thoughts on marriage, yes we had given her the proclamation and she and her partner had read it together..we weren´t able to see them this week, but I hope we can help them with their faith in Christ. I am learning so much in how to teach less with no we can´t do that or do this or but more with things we can do...it´s definitely a hard thing to learn.

That´s too bad that BYU lost...sounds like a fun long nighter...ah and I can´t believe Faith is 18 what is happening to the world...no but wow her birthday celebration sounds great...tell her happy birthday for me via fb or something.

Dad the meeting with the area sounds amazing! I loved the scriptures and the discussion ideas. I am definitely going to have to study those scriptures, but it is so true that this work grows more when we work with the members and we all work together.

Yesterday in church we had three great talks one on missionary work and the others on the law of chastity and Elder Watmala...I don't know how to write his name but he is a counselor to Pres Kahnlien.

Well that's my week for you all. Thanks for your prayers and support. I know this Church is true and that we have a Savior who is the way and light for all of us! K love you lots!!!

Thanks for everything. Les amo mucho!!
